Hello,

Boy, it's a gorgeous day here in Southern Ontario... sunny and balmy. I hope this nice weather continues into the Thanksgiving weekend.

I am off this year (Woo Hoo), so I am cooking a turkey on Monday. All the gang is coming over, except my sister and her family (they are going camping???? in October???). Should be fun.

I have been listing some actual crochet items, instead of just patterns, on my Etsy site. Seem that I have a huge stash (or hoard as some would call it) and I thought that if I cleared out some old stuff it would make room for some new stuff. I see soooooo many crafty things out there that I would like to do, so I just need to make a little space.

Halloween Trick or Treat Kits

I tried to take some photos as I went along to show you the creative process. I am afraid that I got a little involved and forgot to take a photo of each step. Ooops.

Here is the painted clothpins.

Next I decopaged on some pretty scrapbook paper.

Then I made lots of little crochet pumpkins.

Here is the pattern.

1.With orange yarn and a 4mm hook. Ch 2, work 6sc into second ch from hook.

2. Work 2sc in each stitch around. Bind off.

3.Use black yarn to stitch on a mouth.

4. Hot glue on some googlie eyes.

5. Use black fabric paint to add a nose.

6. Hot glue on a green pipe cleaner curl to the top.

Hot glue the finished pumpkin to the end of the clothespin.

Take some photos of the finished product for my blog and Etsy.

Package them up, nice and pretty.

Flower Motif blanket / wrap

I have seen these flower motif blankets around alot lately and loved them, so I thought I should have one of my own. I love all the colours and designs, they look so exotic.

Most of the fun is in choosing all the colours.

It took my hours to arrange and rearrange the motifs once I had them all done.

I think I like just having them all laid out on my desk.

I left them like that for a day or two, just so I could play with them.

.....it is very therapeutic......

I loved this project so much, I might make another one.

I think I will use mine mostly as a little wrap to go around my shoulders while I sit, in my jammies, with a bowl of popcorn and a glass of wine, watching a chick flick.

They can be hung from your purse, backpack, keys, cell phone, or they can be cute little critters for the toddlers to play with (caution...chocking hazard).
I have sold a few to teenagers, they hang them off of the belt loops on their jeans.

Anyway...here's a little look at one of my latest projects. Just shipped some of them off to a lovely lady in Australia. That's what I like the best about being an Etsy seller....seeing my patterns and items go all over the world. I currently have a very dear friend battling breast cancer, so I thought these owls would be a great reminder for all of us women to get our mammograms done....get your hooters squished.

I just love cruising through those blogs that show you the creative process...how they start with the raw ingredients and then show you how they put them together to create beautiful things. So, I thought I would show you the steps I went through to create these pretty pink cupcake bags.

Actually, I don't plan things out like I see some people doing, you know when they gather up all the items they want to use, and they always seem to match perfectly....I just sort of 'wing it' as I go.

I love my watercolour pencils. I loved my colouring books and crayons when I was wee, too. Just add a little water from the pen... and presto....beautiful pics.

Added some gingham tissue paper and, a few "confetti sprinkles"....mom's hate that stuff.....too messy....but oh, the kids love it! A darling little silver charm.

So, I am really not much of a cook, my son (21yrs.) and husband (40ish) are really the cooks of the family. They like to experiment, try new recipes. They are carnivores and they like it spicy, I, on the other hand am a herbivor and a woose(when it comes to the hot sauce). But....I will grin and bear it and eat the spicy meat, especially if I don't have to cook it. I just add a salad!!!

Now, I have gone off on a tangient here.....I don't like to cook. All that shopping and prepping and simmering, then it's gone it 2 minutes flat, when a PB&J sandwhich and a glass of milk would have done the trick. I do however, like to make the table look pretty, especially on special occassions. ...so with Thanksgiving coming up (sooner here in Canada, then in the US) I have made up some cute little pumpkins for the table. I have added a few little place cards, or they could be used as an invitation. I posted them on Etsy and sold them as quickly as I listed them....that means somebody else likes a pretty Thanksgiving table too ( I bet they don't like to cook either).

The little orange Halloween ones could be used for trick or treats.

The pink flower petal ones would be great filled with pink jelly beans, as Birthday party favours.

I should try to come up with some Thanksgiving themed ones or Christmas themed ones for little table setting/name place markers....fill with nuts or candy and stick a name tag in the candy.

This project was inspired by a wee cleaning issue. I did some major cleaning the other day and discovered that some of my candles (I love candles...I have many) have melted slightly in the summer heat, and left marks on my wooden table tops. So...I thought of making these little candle coats to protect my tables from wax marks. They would also protect the table tops from those drips down the outside of the candle as it melts. I think I can make some really fun decorative candle coats. Maybe I should call them candle cozies, like the coffee cup cozies and apple cozies that are so popular. See photo. I plan on making some seasonal type candle coats too....Halloween...with some spiders, fall with some pumpkins, winter with some snowflakes.....ohhhhhh the possibilities. My hooks will be flyin'!!???

It is a nice decorative box, filled with a gingerbread cookie mix, a really cute cookie bag for giving away your baked gingerbread cookies, a little glass jar filled with red candies (for decorating), an adorable stuffed gingerbread man (could hang him on the tree) and a decorative recipe card.
Maybe I will keep one for myself.....noooo I should really sell them all.....I could give one to my neighbour.....nooooo...I should really sell them all...ohhh, but they are so cute.......O.K. .....I will think about it....

I am a wee bit of a 'pack rat'...I have been saving these bottles for the perfect craft.
This is what I did with them...and I thought they looked so gorgeous sitting there in the November sun light...so I took some photos to share.
If they don't sell well at the craft sale, I might have to eat all the candy>@#!. ///; look out gym here I come....
